This year’s project brought the two Roanoke congregations together to help build a safe, affordable home at 711 Bullitt Avenue for a local family of 12. It marked the second chapter of their shared homebuilding partnership, following a 2024 effort that produced a six-bedroom home for a family of 10.
Together, the churches organized 17 groups and supplied 97 volunteers, contributing 465.5 hours of service. St. John’s sent nine groups and 50 volunteers for 240.5 hours. Second Presbyterian sent eight groups and 47 volunteers for 225 hours.
Build It Together demonstrates what is possible when congregations combine faith, generosity and practical service. Habitat-Roanoke, St. John’s and Second Presbyterian are not simply constructing a house. They are helping a family build stability, opportunity and a place to call home in the Roanoke Valley.
Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley will reopen its Homebuyer Program application window this summer for the first time in two years. Applications will be available online starting July 20, with orientation sessions offered throughout the summer to help families learn about the process, program requirements and path toward affordable homeownership.
St. John’s Episcopal Church and Second Presbyterian Church are once again joining forces with Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley, launching the second chapter of their shared homebuilding effort, “Build it Together.”
