Habitat-Roanoke Celebrates 300th Home πŸŽ‰

Holiday cheer came early this year for the Toure family, as Habitat-Roanoke, together with WSLS TV 10, dedicated their new home on December 17th.

This home is the 11th WSLS Home for Good, and the 300th overall home for Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley.

Our homebuyer is a hard-working first-generation American who immigrated to America from Liberia, becoming a citizen in 2014. Holding down two jobs, including one at Carilion, our homebuyer is the epitome of the hard work and partnership Habitat looks for when qualifying applicants.

This project, which began in June, is the sixth and final home in 2025, as Habitat-Roanoke gets set to celebrate its 40th Anniversary starting in January 2026. Thousands of volunteer hours went into this five-bedroom home, located in the Belmont-Fallon neighborhood of Southeast Roanoke, a neighborhood that has received nearly three dozen Habitat homes over the past five years.

The Home for Good is an annual project involving eight sponsors that help make this dream come true for our newest home buyer. Those sponsors include: The Bank of Botetourt, Marvin Windows, Capps Home Building Center, Ideal Cabinets, Bower Heating and Air, Blankenship Roofing, and Varney, Inc..

Special thanks also goes out to Lynchburg Crane for their unwavering support for each one of our home builds. Plus, we want to thank the Roanoke Valley Garden Club and One Earth Landscaping for continuing to support our homes by providing the funding and materials needed to complete the landscape of each of our homes.

As mentioned, Habitat-Roanoke will begin celebrating its 40th Anniversary in January, kicking off the special year with the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs on January 31st. Stay tuned for more information, including how to help β€œpack the house” with the Railyard Dawgs!
