This long-enduring project is one of Habitat Roanoke’s annual crown jewels that benefits hundreds of people every year. Not only does a qualified homebuyer family enter the world of home ownership, but hundreds of volunteers have sunk thousands of hours into the project, located at 1829 Rorer Ave. SW. A large chunk of those volunteer hours were committed by the students and faculty at Roanoke College
, which uses the R House
project as a way to introduce their freshman students to the surrounding community, and to the gift of service.
Every year more than 500 students participate in the build, both in the initial phase of the build, which occurs on the campus of Roanoke College, as well as on-site in Roanoke where the home is finished.
Habitat-Roanoke and WSLS TV 10 proudly dedicated their 300th home on December 17th, welcoming a first-generation American family who immigrated to America from Liberia into a new five-bedroom home in Southeast Roanoke…
Celebrate the season on December 14 with St. Mark’s Choir and the Roanoke Chamber Brass. This year’s service features a special world premiere of I Saw a Stable by Evan Andrew Odson, a moving reminder of the importance of shelter and peace.
